This bill is the second part of the Omnibus Institutional Reform Act of 2008. Last spring, the previous SGA administration passed legislation to amend the SGA by-laws to make SGA a more productive. This bill amends the SGA Constitution to be in accordance with the changes made in the by-laws last spring.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Student Government Association approve the recommendations of the Finance Committee

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the SGA urges the Departments of Theatre and Dance to revise the Plan of Organization for the proposed School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies to grant undergraduate and graduate students voting membership in relevant committees

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Article XIII, Section 3 of the SGA By-Laws be amended to follow the attached addendum A.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the SGA supports Maryland Veg Week

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Student Government Association supports Support Haiti Day and will help promote the event

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that $605.00 be allocated from Legislative Reserves to cover these general operating and audio-visual expenses of the meetings.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the SGA change its name from the Student Government Association to the Undergraduate Student Association (to be abbreviated as UGSA)

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that $1410.00 from SGA Legislative Reserves be allocated to purchase the voting system

This bill transfers funds from legislative reserves to a Dining Services purchasing account in order to secure funds for the creation of a community garden on the roof of the North Campus Diner. We are transferring the money rather than spending it ourselves because this whole experiment is very trial and error and we won't know exactly what our costs will be throughout the season. I've gotten the go ahead for this maneuver from Greg Thompson, Director of Facilities for Dining Services and "Father" of the Roof Top Garden. Some costs are known such as seeds, certain building materials, and paint (for aesthetic creations) But other costs such as Integrated Pest Management and compost is more fluid and changes depending on need. Ample funds should be readily available for when unexpected problems suddenly arrive such as tomato blight which destroyed a very large portion of all organic tomatoes on the East Coast last Summer.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Student Government Association cosponsors DOMEFEST and the Student Government Association logo will appear on any and all marketing materials for DOMEFEST including the reusable plastic cups

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that $8,200.00 be allocated to fund the costs associated with producing the informational booklet

Due to bureaucratic reasons (on our end and Charter UM’s), I will be unable to secure an official invoice from Transportation Services for the event until this bill has been passed. HOWEVER, printed copies of the emails that contain the cost quote for the buses will be in the office.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Student Government Association endorses the letter referred to above

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the O.N.E. UMD Conference be incorporated into the by-laws as an annually sponsored and funded SGA event
