WHEREAS, the Student Government Association (SGA) encourages philanthropic initiatives; and,

WHEREAS, the Anacostia Watershed Society is holding an Earth Day Clean-Up on April 24th,

WHEREAS, over 3,000 attended the clean-up last year, including over 170 students from the University of Maryland; and,

WHEREAS, several student organizations, such as UMD for Clean Energy, MaryPIRG and Alpha Phi Omega are seeking to increase student turnout for the event this year; and,

WHEREAS, providing charter buses for the event would make it easier for students to attend; and,

WHEREAS, Charter UM has two buses available for the event; and,

WHEREAS, each bus costs $432.00 to rent

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the SGA allocates $864.00 from SGA Legislative Reserves towards the rental of two charter buses; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that any unused funds be returned to SGA Legislative Reserves
