1. WHEREAS, the Student Government Association (SGA) has no legislative authority; and,

2. WHEREAS, student organizations around the country with function similar to the SGA have different names, such as Student Council and Student Association; and,

3. WHEREAS, the Graduate Student Government also represents students;

4. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the SGA change its name from the Student Government Association to the Undergraduate Student Association (to be abbreviated as UGSA).

5. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that every line in the constitution, standing rules of order, and by-laws that currently read “SGA” be changed to read “UGSA”.

6. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that every relevant name change in the aforementioned documents occurs.

7. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the incoming Executive branch is responsible for creating a new UGSA logo to replace the current SGA one.

8. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the incoming Press Secretary makes it known that the SGA has changed its name to UGSA.

9. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that these changes do not take effect until fall 2010.
