An Act Concerning the Allocation of Primary Funding
1. WHEREAS, there was $1,288,784.00 available for distribution in the Unallocated Reserves fund this semester; and,
2. WHEREAS, the Finance Committee accepted 248 applications for funding this semester from student groups, with requests totaling $2,620,954.13; and,
3. WHEREAS, every reasonable attempt was made, through the creation of the new SGA Finance website, mandatory President/Treasurer information meetings and one-on-one budget help workshops to ensure that groups were well informed of the application process; and,
4. WHEREAS, the legislature approved preliminary funding guidelines that were published in the Finance Manual; and,
5. WHEREAS, the Finance Committee was given the power to generate supplemental guidelines (see attached) when necessary to fairly adjust the requests to the amount available for allocation; and,
6. WHEREAS, the guidelines and procedures adopted provided for an objective, equitable and efficient disbursement process by applying the preliminary and supplementary guidelines equally to every group’s budget through over 65 hours in review of the budgets in hearings, deliberations and appeals;
7. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Student Government Association approve the recommendations of the Finance Committee; and,
8. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that these recommendations be presented to the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs.
